International Veterans' Conference, VETS: Global Practices of Veterans' Integration into Civilian Life
Goal: To advocate for creating a Ministry of Veterans Affairs in Ukraine by showcasing international examples and to discuss ways to solve the most common problems of veterans.
Result: Establishment of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in 2018.
Campaign Duration: 2 years (2016-2018)
I co-organized a two-day conference featuring:
- 51 speakers from the US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, South Korea, Norway, and Denmark and Ukraine.
- 72 expert presentations.
- 250 participants.
Key attendees included:
- Filip Vojvodic-Medic, German Marshall Fund
- John Boerstler, NextOp and CEO of Combined Arms.
- Pavlo Rozenko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine
- Oleksandr Tretiakov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Veterans.
My Key Responsibilities:
- Managed invitation lists (250 participants. 51 speakers, 10 reporters).
- Coordinated logistics.
- Wrote press releases, news announcements, event invitations.
- Issued media accreditation. Responded to media inquiries, organized interviews.
- Managed handouts, badges, a photo zone, a banner, merch.
- Posted about the event on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram.
- Edited and published videos on YouTube.
