International Veterans' Conference, VETS: Global Practices of Veterans' Integration into Civilian Life

Goal: To advocate for creating a Ministry of Veterans Affairs in Ukraine by showcasing international examples and to discuss ways to solve the most common problems of veterans.
Result:
Establishment of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in 2018.
Campaign Duration:
2 years (2016-2018)

I co-organized a two-day conference featuring:

  • 51 speakers from the US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, South Korea, Norway, and Denmark and Ukraine.
  • 72 expert presentations.
  • 250 participants.

Key attendees included:

  • Filip Vojvodic-Medic, German Marshall Fund
  • John Boerstler, NextOp and CEO of Combined Arms.
  • Pavlo Rozenko, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine
  • Oleksandr Tretiakov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Veterans.

My Key Responsibilities: 

  • Managed invitation lists (250 participants. 51 speakers, 10 reporters).
  • Coordinated logistics.
  • Wrote press releases, news announcements, event invitations.
  • Issued media accreditation. Responded to media inquiries, organized interviews.
  • Managed handouts, badges, a photo zone, a banner, merch.
  • Posted about the event on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Telegram.
  • Edited and published videos on YouTube.
